Ms Barbara Mooney
holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology and Medical Technology from New Mexico State University with a minor in Chemistry and Community Health. She has worked in the field of Infection Prevention and Control for more than 20 years, having held her Certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology since 1997 (CIC). She has been the past president of the Association of Professionals in Infection Control (APIC)-NM chapter has attended the SHEA/CDC Course in Healthcare Epidemiology: (Awarded the Gina Pugliese Scholarship in 2008)
She is currently an Executive Consultant with ICCNM, and an APIC faculty for the EPI Intensive, Academy, and Long-term care courses. She has worked with the NM Department of Health on CDC special projects, including the Antimicrobial Appropriateness project and supporting Statewide CLASBI and LABID C. diff validation activities. Barbara’s IP experience covers the spectrum of healthcare settings and activities including, program management and preparation for CMS/TJC/DNV survey for acute and long-term acute care, rehabilitation, long term care, home health, and ambulatory settings such as dental and physician offices.
